After conducting tens of thousands of AUV operations from a variety of vessels, docks, and shores, we know how important it is to support a wide range of handling systems for launch and recovery. That is why Bluefin vehicles are designed with lifting handles and tag line attachment points to facilitate handling, and include minimal protrusions and control surfaces to avoid interference. Some of our systems are also equipped with a line release nose assembly to aid in towing and recovering the vehicle.

Small Vehicles The Bluefin-9, HAUV, and Spray Glider are two-man-portable systems that can be operated off a RHIB, small boat, or dock with no specialized launch and recovery equipment.

Medium and Large Vehicles The Bluefin-12 and Bluefin-21 require additional equipment for launch and recovery because of their increased size and weight. Depending on the vessel, operations may only require standard shipboard systems such as a crane, a small davit, or an A-frame. On certain vessels and in highly demanding environments, a dedicated AUV launch and recovery system is recommended.
