Marine
Operations Engineer - Electronics
Bluefin is seeking a
Marine Operations Engineer specializing in electronics to join a team
of designers, engineers and technicians, in a fast growing, dynamic
company.
We are seeking this individual to qualify as an AUV operator and
field support engineer. The candidate will take on the principal
responsibilities of supporting, troubleshooting and repairing all
electrical and electronic systems of our unmanned submersibles during
operations in the field.
For this job, we are seeking someone with
- MS in
electrical engineering or equivalent work experience - A BS and
2 years experience or an associates degree and 5 years field
support experience in a related industry is acceptable.
- Knowledgeable
in digital and analog circuits
- Proficient
component level troubleshooting skills
- Excellent
soldering capabilities
- Thorough
knowledge of MS Windows
- Some knowledge
of underwater navigation systems, battery systems or underwater
vehicle operations is a plus.
Applicant must be capable of obtaining a 100-ton Masters License
and Massachusetts
state crane operator's license. Must be willing to spend up to a
total of 7 months a year at sea or traveling extensively.

Junior/Senior Software Engineer
Be a member of dynamic,
energetic software engineering team designing and developing
state-of-the-art applications for autonomous underwater vehicles
(AUVs). You will work on
software encompassing the full life-cycle of AUV operations, from
embedded vehicle control code to GUI-based tools for planning and
monitoring. We will consider
both junior and senior candidates.
Responsibilities include:
1) Designing, implementing and
modifying next-generation AUV software
2) Being the lead software developer
on projects requiring software expertise
3) Working with engineers from other
departments including Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing and
Operations Engineering on our AUV Systems
Qualifications:
1) Bachelor’s degree in Computer
Science or strong theoretical and practical computer experience
2) Excellent programming skills,
particularly in C/C++
3) Ability and desire to work in an
energetic, multi-disciplinary environment with top-notch engineers
4) One or more of the following
would be a plus: Linux; Windows; hardware experience; EE and/or ME
experience
5) No prior experience with AUVs

Production Planner/Scheduler
Be a member of dynamic,
energetic manufacturing team assembling and delivering state-of-the art
equipment for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). You will
develop the manufacturing build plan and manage our production schedules
for our manufacturing facility, located in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities will
include, but not limited to the following:
Reporting to the
Director of Manufacturing, the Master Planner/Scheduler for the
Bluefin organization is responsible for the scheduling and
coordination of customer orders through the manufacturing areas. Working with Purchasing and
manufacturing, orders will be reviewed and scheduled in each of the
manufacturing departments with schedules communicated and published. This position will be the point of
contact for Program Management to validate shipment dates to
customers, and confirmation of any requested order changes.
Key to this position will be the evaluation and capacity of
this growing manufacturing facility.
This position will summarize production volumes and labor
requirements for the horizon for clear communication to the Bluefin
Management team.
The Master Planner/Scheduler position is key to the
implementation and maintenance of the ERP (Enterprise Resource
Planning) system for the Bluefin Manufacturing facility.
As processes are established and documented, this position
will provide a key role in the implementation and vision of lean
manufacturing techniques for the facility. Candidates should have a solid
understanding of lean manufacturing, calculation of kanbans, and a
good understanding of supply chain management techniques.
All applicants must
demonstrate a good grasp of knowledge and principles of Purchasing
and Materials Management.
Experience and Qualifications:
A college degree is required for this position, with major in
business, logistics, or industrial engineering preferred. Candidate must have a proven track
record of success within a manufacturing environment, preferably in an
Engineered product (build to order) environment. In addition, it is critical that
all respondents have at least 3-5 years of planning, master planning,
or supply chain experience.
Considered a plus for this position will be to those
applicants that have experience in lean manufacturing techniques and
are familiar with Six Sigma.
