Reconfigurable and Customizable
The modular design of the Bluefin-21 lets you swap payloads rapidly between dives.
All mechanical and electrical interfaces are standardized, so you can readily integrate the sensor of your choice into a payload module.
With Bluefin’s software developer’s kit, you can incorporate your new sensor into the vehicle’s software, including data stream synchronization with the vehicle’s navigation.

Flexible
The Bluefin-21 is the world’s smallest deep-water survey AUV.
Its ease of handling and fast turn-around on deck maximizes the time spent in the water, gathering data.
Support vessels can carry and operate multiple Bluefin-21 AUVs, thus optimizing limited ship time.

The intuitive operator’s interface allows you to create new missions on the fly; this way you can adapt your sampling strategy to maximize performance.

Reliable
The Bluefin-21 employs a rugged fairing that withstands launch and recovery in inclement weather.
The articulated tailcone eliminates the risk of damaged fins, and Bluefin’s pressure- tolerant batteries facilitate rapid turnaround on deck, while eliminating the need to open and reseal pressurized vessels.
The software suite - both on-board the AUV and on the operator’s laptop - has been refined through over fifteen years of military, academic, and commercial use.
